LAWRENCE R. HELMER
Lawrence R. Helmer, 67, of Tucson, AZ died on February 18,
2009, after a long eventful life.
A native of Detroit, Michigan and a longtime resident of Poncha-
toula, he is survived by two brothers, David Helmer of Allentown,
PA and Jim Helmer of Marathon, FL; a daughter, Lori Elmlund
of Raleigh, North Carolina, and one granddaughter, Megan; and
many close friends.
In recognition of his love for needy animals, in lieu of flowers,
please send donations to the Humane Society. A celebration of his
life will be held in Tucson at a later date, and a family service will
be scheduled in Florida.
Editor's Note: "Uncle Larry" was a well-known merchant in
America's Antique City where he and his long-time partner, Karen
Travelbee, owned Terra Cotta Plus, the shop with the big Indian
canoe, during the 1990's.
His loss is mourned by many in our community.
DAVID KING FRAZER
David King Frazer, 72, of Hammond, died Sunday, February 17,
2008 in North Oaks Medical Center.
He was born on July 13, 1935 in Eldorado, Illinois, son of the
late C. A. and Betty King Frazer.
Mr. Frazer was a U.S. Army Veteran, member and past presi-
dent of Rotary, Hammond Club, member and past president of the
Louisiana Press Association, and member of the Chamber of Com-
merce.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Patricia Slosh Frazer; two
sons, Michael Slosh Frazer and Douglas Alan Frazer; three grand-
children, Brandon, Christopher, and Nichole Frazer; two sisters,
Nancy Woods and Mary Curran; one brother, Robert Frazer.
Friends were received Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the Har-
ry McKneely & Son in Hammond and on Friday February 22, 2008
until religious services were held at the funeral home chapel with
Rev. Jerry Hannible officiating.
Interment followed in the Rose Memorial Mausoleum.
Contributions may be made to the Joubert Syndrome Founda-
tion and Related Cerebellar Disorders.
BLANCHE MARIE BOURGEOIS KLIEBERT
Blanche Marie Bourgeois Kliebert, 91, of Ponchatoula, died
Monday, February 18, 2008 in North Oaks Medical Center.
She was born on July 6, 1916 in St. James Parish, daughter of
the late Alcibia and Blanche Reulet Bourgeois, and wife of the late
Joseph Kliebert.
Surviving are her two sons, Larry Kliebert and Bobby Kliebert;
three sisters, Elma Ougland, Elvine Ovella, and Alice Kramer; one
brother, Edward Bourgeois; five grandchildren, nine great-grand-
children, and one great-great-grandchild
She is preceded in death by three sisters, Odile Lassere, Joyce
Barre, and Loice Couret, and three brothers, Alcibia, Joseph, and
Wilfred Bourgeois.
Friends were received Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at the
Harry McKneely & Son in Ponchatoula and on Thursday February
21, 2008 until Mass was held at St Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment followed in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
LESLIE RAY LAVIGNE
Leslie Ray Lavigne, 85, of Ponchatoula, died Sunday, February
24, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on January & 1923, in Ponchatoula, son of the late
Robert and Leah Poche' Lavigne.
Mr. Lavigne was an usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and
member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #4874.
