(Times Photo) NI)TICE LOUISIANA MAIN STREET OFFERS REDEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE GRANT OPPORTUNITIES Ponchatoula, LA- Ponchatoula Main Street is soliciting Redevelopment Incentive Grant applications from downtown commercial building and/or business owners. The Louisiana Main Street program is able to offer two types of competitive grants- a $10,000 grant for major projects and a $2,500 grant for minor projects. Grants are available for either interior or exterior rehabilitation. Applications received from Ponchatoula Main Street building and/or business owners will compete statewide for funding with other Main Street communities. Over the years, Ponchatoula Main Street has received redevelopment grant funds from the Louisiana Main Street program, that have initiated local projects plus associated jobs and economic stimulation. To be eligible for Redevelopment Incentive Grant funds, a building must be located within the downtown Main Street district, be used for commercial purposes, and be at least 50 years old. In addition, the proposed work must be approved by the local Historic District Commission and the Louisiana Main Street office, while also conforming to the guidelines set forth by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. The entrance to their driveway is bordered with beds of Daylil- ies, Amarillos, Roses, Verbena, and Lantana. A flowing fountain centers the front of their home with Holly Bushes, Mums, Azaleas, Bridalwreath Spirea, and fragrant Con- federate Jasmine. The decorative trellis gives support to Roses and Lantana. Large pots, statues, bird feeders and houses, along with wind chimes add warmth to the home. The back yard patio is adorned by beds filled with a variety of Roses, Hydrangeas, Amarillos, Angel Trumpet, Lantana, Garde- nias, Sweet Potato Vine, Lily of the Nile, Sasquana Camelia, a Momosa Tree, and a Bottlebush Tree. Dufreche called the meeting to order at 6:53 p.m. and roll was called. Present: Dufreche, Fletcher, Amerson Absent: Palmer, Rocquin Visitors: Bill Wheat, Tisha Smith, Jacob Stevens After a review of the meeting minutes from March 19, 2014, Fletcher made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Amerson seconded the motion. There being no discussion, all board members present were in favor and the motion passed. Brignac presented the financial review to the board. Brignac explained two additional reports included in the financial review this month; i.e. Estimate Recur- ring Expenses and Profit & Loss Budget Versus Actual. After a review, Fletcher made a motion to accept the financial review report. Amerson seconded the mo- tion. There being no discussion, all board members present were in favor and the motion passed. Fletcher reported to the board he was working on getting a list and quotes on everything needed for the server in the office and infrastructure. Dufreche discussed completed and ongoing projects. Drainage is being worked on at the events building. Future work is to be completed on drainage behind Ponchatoula Field, the workshop and around the water tower. The Pavilion #2 is complete with 6 new picnic tables and working restrooms. A fence is to be built around the septic tank and control panel. Dufreche also discussed the additional parking at the new Pavilion #2. She reported the program was funded by Dick's Sport- ing Goods and is user friendly. Smith also reported this progra m can be used for all sports scheduling, replaces one calls and a website can be customized by the customer. Fletcher asked whether the company sold the contact lists. Smith will check into this. Brignac updated the board on gymnasium requests and rentals. She reported on several inquiries for the use of the gym for upcoming events. The board then discussed a request for a softball tournament. Brignac also informed the board of future rentals in the events building. Wheat updated the board on the progress of the World Series. Dufreche brought up the need to set up a special meeting to discuss PARD's expectations of the Athletic Coordinator position and set a date for that meeting. Brignac discussed the 2014 Bayou All-Star Football camp to be held this sum- mer. In addition, Brignac informed the board an adult kickball league was forming in the area and would be using the 2 football fields one night a week for games this summer for approximately 8 weeks. Dufreche discussed the advertisement from Branch Reality and advertising from other businesses. Brignac informed the board Jim Ryan would be at the May board meeting to discuss the 10 mil tax renewal that will be on the ballot in November. Brignac thanked the Board for the opportunity to attend the LRPA Conven- tion and discussed some of the information she acquired from the conference ses- sions. She also announced she had been appointed as District I Chair on the LRPA Board. Brignac discussed adding cellular communication on our alarm systems. This would eliminate the ongoing problems with phone lines being cut in the park. Once these are in place, PARD will be able to disconnect two phone lines being used for alarms systems in the concession stands and workshop. After the initial expense of the units is paid, the cost will be less than the amount we currently pay on the two phone lines. Dufreche approached the issue of an attorney and the board discussed the mat- ter. Dufreche asked the board to think on this matter for future discussion. Fletcher made a motion to adjourn. Amerson seconded the motion. There being no discussion, all board members present were in favor and the motion passed. Dufreche called the meeting to order at 6:44 p.m. and roll was called. Present: Amerson, Dufreche, Fletcher, Palmer, Rocqnin After a brief discussion of the Fireworks Show, the entire board was in agree- ment to hold the 14 th Annual Fireworks Show, on Thursday, July 3 rd. The board discussed the fence at the front entrance of the park. In addition, the board discussed a rental contract for Pavilion #2. Dufreche and Brignac will work on a contract for this pavilion including rules, times of usage, costs, etc. The remainder of the meeting the board discussed the Athletic Coordinator po- sition duties, office hours, etc. There is a meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 8 th at 6:30 p.m. when the PARD Board will meet with the commissioner and]or their appointed delegates for the three major youth sports programs. Fletcher made a motion to adjourn. Rocquin seconded the motion. There being no discussion, all board members present were in favor and the motion passed.
