Reader urges help for The Apotheca Dear Editor, May I please ask the people in our area that read your paper to please take a moment and realize how blessed we are. So many of us are, but it's a reality that we have many in our area that are not. Especially the elderly who cannot make it to the end of each month with enough food or money. Their Social Security checks just don't provide them enough to make it all month. You may have recently seen on Channel 4 news that Bill Capo had a special on the food bank here in Ponchatoula, The Apotheca, run by Mrs. Barbara Miller. It is not getting enough food to provide for the needy. Now with all the hard work and dedication she puts out to help those in need, she's struggling to pay the rent and utilities. I am asking from the bottom of my heart that whomever owns the building to give the needy in the community a special blessing, and give her a free month or two of rent. I'm sure it would help everyone involved. I know it's a big favor to ask for, but what if it were you or a parent, or relative of yours in need? I can promise you that God will bless you for it. For the rest of us, I ask that you please stop by the Apotheca and donate a bag of groceries or make a small donation to help the needy in our com- munity. We can't judge those who are in need, but I hope and pray that no one in my family ever gets into that position. God says to help those who are in need. I won't be the one judg- ing if a certain person needs it or not, I'll leave that to a "higher authority." So please join with me and give a special gift from your heart, it will make you feel much better! Thank you & God bless you. After gaining yardage in every which way, the game ends with a final score of 12-35, giv- ing Mandeville the win for this week. As the guys walk to the side of the field, and the MHS Band takes the field, you can see the little pink breast cancer ribbons on the players' helmets and tiny pink checks on the boys' cleats. The PHS cheerleaders also raise awareness for the cause by wearing bright pink ribbons in their ponytails. Come support this breast cancer supporting team as they travel to St. Paul for the game at 7 p.m., which will also be St. Paul's Homecoming. Hope to see you there!
