The newest Alessi's Video Store in a
chain of five is the Ponchatoula location
at Cypress Point Shopping Center,
located on the corner of Hwy.51 and
La. 22 behind the Super 24 station.
Owners of this full line store of video
and audio sales and service are Jimmy
Gregory and Burnell Alessi. The store
manager is Herbert Stogner, who along
with employee Robin Taylor provide
courteous and experienced service.
This Alessi's store prides itself, as the
others do, in offering a full fine of VCR's
plus televisions, steres, video cameras,
and the store boasts over 1600 rental
movies in stock.
"Quality products such as RCA and
General Electric are the only ones we
carry and we stand 100 percent behind
service after we sell yoa product. That's
what sets us apart from the other guys.
We are a full service store," stated
manager Herbert Stogner.
With the Christmas season Upon us,
Alessi's is looking forward to a busy
season with VCR's expected to be sold
in record numbers here and nationwide.
The Ponchatoula Alessi's offers
financing through Citizens Finance Co.,
which makes it possible for shoppers to
walk away with a top-of-the-line RCA
VCR for as low as thrity two dollars a
month.
And for all the movie buffs, where else
in Ponchatula can you choose from
1600 movies, in stock and growing?
The new store offers a membership for
just 25 dollars• After becoming a
member you are entitled to one dollar
rentals per night, two dollar rentals for
new releases, per night. Tuesday
evenings are really special at Alessi's
because members can rent movies for a
mere 50 cents a night, one dollar for
new releases.

+'The health business is not a fad, it is
here to stay," stated manager Polly
Kenney, and one workout at the new
location of the Ponchatoula Health Club
will convince you.
The new facility which is located in
Cypress Point Shopping Center next to
Alessi's Video is owned and operated
by Jimmy and Karen Gregory. The new
facility is over 3,000 square feet in floor
space and has expanded its line of
equipment from its previous location on
South Second Street.
Owner Jimmy Gregory has been in the
business for just over a year but has
been a body builder and health
enthusiast for many years.
The new co-ed facility offers aerobic
classes, floor exercise, personalized
exercise programs, separate saunas,
steam rooms and whilrpools, a nursery.
a full health drink bar. vitamins, and
much more.
"We help our clients to achieve their
goals, whether this is working on
problem areas of their body. toning, or
body building, we will set up an
individualized program based on that
person's needs and the amen/ of time
he or she has to dedicate." stated
.manager Polly Kenney.
'The present membership is 250 and
growing with the new facility which
features more flexible hours and the co-
ed approach,
The floor exercise is daily at 9:30 a.m.
The aerobics class takes place Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 6:30 until 7:30
p.m.
There are separate hours for the
whirlpool for men and for women
members. "Most of the women
members are interested in toning up
and firming but we do have a few
women body builders and quite a few
men body builders, two of whom placed
recently in competition in Covington,"
stated Mrs. Kenney. Owner Jimmy
Gregory noted a steady growth in the
past five yars as people have become
more aware of nutrition and the benefits
of exercise.
"There is no generation gap whn it
comes to working out. We have
members in their seventies, fifties,
middle aged, and high school, that's
why I say this is not a fad. it's here to
stay." said the manager.
There are a variety of contracts to
choose from at the Ponchatoula Health
Club but most agree the two year and "
up is the best because after three
months of working out you won't want
to stop and it will become a way of life
and not a chore. The rate structure i
$27.50 per month for one year with an
option for two years at $25 per month.
with an option for each additional year
after that at $I00 a year.
