From the Mayor's Office: Walmart real estate deal closes Times Report It was confirmed by Walmart attorneys last Wednesday that the real estate transaction and the "formal closing" were completed on the Ponchatoula development. All final and signed documents as it relates to the city are expected to be delivered this week. "It is anticipated construc- tion will begin in the first quar- ter of 2013. We do understand that there is at least one other parcel of property in close prox- imity of the Walmart site that is under contract and will be sold as soon as construction be- gins. City Hall is also getting other inquiries from retailers concerning potential locations within the city," Mayor Zabbia told The Ponchatoula Times.
