a teacher at Bayou Lacombe
Junior High School. Under his
guidance, two of his students
placed first at the annual state
rally at L.S.U.
He served as representative
to STPTA and was designated
within the school as assistant
principal. He left teaching for
a short time to work at NASA's
Michoud Assembly Facility on
the Space Program, which put
the first man on the moon; but
the classroom called and he
returned to teaching. In 1967,
he accepted a position on the
faculty at Delgado Community
College in New Orleans where
he retired in 1979 as Associate
Dean of the Trades Division.
With summers free, Jewel was
employed at Yellowstone Na-
tional Park as a Forest Ranger,
Protective Division at the Can-
yon area.
Jewel Ray married Jimmie
Ann Berger while they were
at college in 1955. They were
married for 55 years and had
'two sons, Gregory James and

Jewel Thompson was Past
Master of Bayou Lacombe
Lodge #459, F&AM and a mem-
ber for over 54 years, as well
as the Knights Templar of the
York Rite. He is also a member
of the Madisonville Presbyteri-
an Church. His hobbies includ-
:: ed gardening, hunting, fishing,
camping, watching football and
he was noted for his carvings of
wildfowl decoys.
Relatives and friends were
invited to attend the Memorial
Service at Madisonville Presby-
terian Church, 705 Pine Street,
Madisonville, LA 70447 on Sat-
urday, December 18, 2010. Ba-
gnell & Son Funeral Home of
Covington was in charge of the

Evelyn Henrietta Jones Windecker, 82, Ponchatoula, died De-
cember 18, 2010, at her home. She was born May 12, 1928, in

their wives, Renatd and Kelly,
four grandchildren, (Greg and
Renatd's daughters) Britty and
Valerie, and (Brian and Kelly's
sons) Tyler and Landon, and
one great grandson Gregory
James Leeper.

She is preceded in death by
her husband of 62 years, Gar-
rett W. "Bill" Windecker; grand-
son, Stephen Patrick Taylor;
parents, Otto Mack & Florence
Perrilloux Jones; sister, Amy
Decker Reine; brother, Herman
Jones.
Visitation was held at Har-
ry McKneely & Son Funeral
Home in Ponchatoula, Tuesday,
December 21, 2010 and on De-
cember 22, 2010 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Ponchatou-
la until the Mass of Christian
Burial. Interment followed in
the Ponchatoula Cemetery.

ANNIE VICTORIA MEYN FAIRBURN
Annie Victoria Meyn Fairburn, 92, Ponchatoula, died Saturday,
December 18, 2010, at her residence.
She was born on June 5, 1918, in Tangipahoa Parish.
Mrs. Fairburn was a member for 75 years at First Baptist
Church in Ponchatoula.
Surviving are her three daughters, Betty Fairburn Williams,
Barbara Fairburn, and Annette Fairburn Clark; sixteen grand-
children; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-
grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Agnes Thompson
and Henry Meyn; husband, Calvin Leo Fairburn; two sons, Leon-
ard Calvin Fairburn and Alton Henry Fairburn.
Friends were received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home
in Ponchatoula on Wednesday, December 22, 2010until the funeral
services were held in the funeral home chapel.
Interment followed in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ham-
mond.
