Last weekend is typically one
of my favorite weekends in the
world of sports. The only thing
I love more than watching foot-
ball on Sunday, is watching
playoff football on Saturday
and Sunday.
Saturday's games started off
with the Houston Texans knock-
ing the Cincinnati Bengals out
of the playoffs for the second
year in a row.
The Texans controlled this
game from start to finish with
a solid running game, led by Ar-
ian Foster's 32 carries for 140
yards. In fact, Foster scored
the game's only offensive touch-
down on a one yard plunge into
the end zone.
Final score: Houston 19, Cin-
cinnati 13.
In the late game, the Green
Bay Packers dominated the
Minnesota Vikings, a team that
beat them just six days prior.
That game was in the com-
fy confines of the Metrodome,
this game was on the frozen
tundra that is Lambeau Field.
Aaron Rodgers was the star
of the game, completing 23 of
33 passes for 274 yards and a
touchdown.
Final score: Green Bay 24,
Minnesota 10.
Sunday's early game was an-
k,!
other one-sided affair, with the
Baltimore Ravens eliminating
the Indianapolis Colts from the
playoffs.
The biggest story of this
game is that it was future Hall
of Famer Ray Lewis' last home
game.
Final score: Baltimore 24, In-
dianapolis 9.
The Seattle Seahawks put
a wrap on wild card weekend,
and put a good ole fashioned
butt whipping on the Washing-
ton Redskins.
The Redskins actually
jumped out to a quick 14-0
lead, but it was all downhill
after that. The Seahawks rode
the strong running Marshawn
Lynch and quarterback Russell
Wilson to the win. Final score:
Seattle 24, Washington 14.

Here is hoping everyone had
a pleasant beginning to the New
Year and the passing of 2012. In
my neighborhood the fireworks
were very prolific. It seemed
that everyone, but me, had a
giant display. The great thing
about this is that we certainly
did not have to go anywhere,
but to the porch, to see and hear
a great show.
The ending of the year was
very pleasant with two of my
brothers and their wives go-

ing to spend a couple of days in
New Orleans to see some shows
and spending some pleasurable
time together. I would recom-
mend to all of you to see Under
The Street Lamp presented by
Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
The show was composed of two
groups that were varied in their
presentations of music, from the
older tunes to some Broadway
productions. The first group
was composed of nine singers
that sang acapella. Great har-
mony! The second group was
composed of four singers who
were in a Chicago production
and performed on local public
broadcasting networks. Their
performance was a mixture of
production numbers and good
comedy skits. If you get a chance
to see the show, you should go.
The show is well worth the ad-
mission.
The following day we went
to the production at the World
War II Museum Theater and
listened to the group The Vic-
tory Belles. I have always
wanted to go to the production
and was pleased with the show.
True, it was my hope to see a
"production of Music of the For-
ties, but the show was the last
