Editor's Note: Thank you Mrs.
Crawford. Just one small point: The
Ponchatoula Times uses four dollars to
pay the telephone workers and to pay
for billing and postage on the billing,
with no money going for printing or
mailing of the gift newspaper, meaning
all the money goes to St. Jude's or to
the drive itself. Thanks again for your
support.

The "Ins" and "Outs" of
the Police Jury System in
Tangipahoa Parish!
If you drive a car in Tangipahoa Parish you
have to be familiar with the results of years and
years under the Police Jury System. We
probably lead the nation in the size and number
of potholes!
The truth is... we are a people that has been
victimized by an outdated, inefficient,
unaudited form of government.!
On March 30, 1985, we have a chance to
once-and-for-all do something about the
shortcomings of our Police Jury System!
Vote "YES" for the HOME RULE CHARTER!
A Better Way!
THE HOME RULE CHARTER REQUIRES:
(1) Sound budgeting process, induding a balanced budget.
(2) A 5-year capital improvement budget to insure funds will be
available for roads, bridges & buildings.
(3) Central purchasing procedure.
(4) A merit persmmel system.
(5) Annual internal audit of financial operations.
PLUS MANY CHECKS AND BALANCES AND PUBLIC SAFEGUARDS!
Come on! We've talked about our corrupt Police Jury System long enough;
Let's give Home Rule Government a chance to work!
Together,
Let' Change the SystemV.
