Spring bridal look Miss Susan Parker, a sophomore at LSU, models with a bridal bouquet from Jan's Florists at the Methodist Women's annual spring fashion show, held Saturday in Ponchatoula. (Times Photo by Donna Corkern) Gardenettes enjoy outing A joint meeting of Ponchatoula garden clubs was hosted by the Gardenettes at the LSU Experimental Station, March 13. Guests from Community Garden Club included Mildred Bittick, Edna Mae Donaldson, Katherine Gregoire. Shirley Goode and Billie Picou. Among other guests were Cheryl Barnes. Ruth Buzzetta, Vicki Camp, Jenny Scheurer and Rosalie Tubre. The group of 28 toured the facility and purchased plants following a brief business meeting. Refreshments were provided by hostesses Mmes Albert Lotz, Bryan McMahon and Orvill Winburn. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Marion Fannaly, president: Mrs Fred Cutrer led the opening prayers. A brief description of favorite annuals was held and a recap of the Board of Managers meeting was presented. The board plans an auction at the May banquet and a November 2 Bazaar. Member Violet Collier addressed a meeting of Town and Country Garden Club in Hammond earlier that afternoon and gave a brief account. Mrs Matt Wagner brought a talkie arrangement foe the attendance door prize and guests.Picou and Tubre each won Gardenette Cookbooks Mrs. Robert Rosson handled registration and drawing. The next meeting will be held in the home of Mrs Robert Walch with Mines. Tom Boyet. Herbert Chaney and James Phares as co-hostesses. Guest speaker will be Ginger Romero. author of "The Louisiana Strawberry Story.'" Other members present included Mines, Charles Austin. Donna Corkern. Burl Dampier. R.B Jennings. Onie Ordoyne. Vernise Ott and Melvin. Geraldine iv The Ponchatoula United Methodist Women held its "Spring Into Spring" fashion show and luncheon on Saturday, March 16. The fashions that were modeled were from J.C. Penney's store at Hammond Square Mall. Mrs. Carrie Watkins, fashion merchandiser from J.C. Penney was on hand to assist the models. Mr. Robert Rosson, manager of d.C. Pen- ney's was also in attendance. Mrs. George Parker was the master of ceremonies. Mrs. Chris Bacon played the piano during the style show and luncheon. There were 24 models and 50 outfits shown. The lovely assortment of Spring, pastel colors and tones made you want to go shopping for that special new Spring wardrobe. Miss Susan Parker, a local young lady who is a student at L.S'.U., stole the show at the end, wearing a lovely wedding gown of satin and lace with seed pearls and the lovely hat with lace and flowers with netting; a beautiful gown to wear for that special day.
