March 14 Deputy Don Alexander
learned a new-born baby boy was
named after him, which is not too
strange until you realize he is single and
the baby was born in Berton, Arkansas.
It seems that on August 23. 1984 a
three-month pregnant woman was
traveling through Tangipahoa Parish
toward Arkansas. She was traveling
alone and her husband was anxiously
awaiting her return. But, as she traveled
north on 1-55 her car broke down and
she was than 200 miles from home and
did not know a soul around this area
Deputy Alexander brought the
expectant mother to the courthouse in
Amite and made her comfortable while
he contacted her family in Arkansas
who drove to Amite to get her, since the
car was in need of major repair.
Apparently the kindness impressed
Mrs. Robert Dorsey because when she
returned to Arkansas she told her
husband about the deputy taking time
to assure her comfort and safety.
In early March a boy was born to the
Dorseys and they named him
Alexander in honor of the single deputy
