While local boat launches,
camps, and backyard barbecues
were bracing for record crowds,
the Krewe of Erin members were
continuing their recent tradi-
tion of carefully placing small
American flags on the graves of
Ponchatoula veterans.
Queen Gillian van Bree and
members of her senior court
wore their dresses, sashes and
crowns as they completed their
respectful task at Ponchatoula
Cemetery.
Krewe bagpiper Landon Join-
er set just the right tone for the
event with his masterful playing.
The krewe was joined by vet-
erans from the local American
Legion post, by members of
Ponchatoula High's MROTC, by
student groups, and by family
members of the fallen heroes.

"Million Dollar Quartet," the musical that conjures the unique 1956 session that brought
together rock and roll legends Elvis Presley (played by Brandon Bennett), Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny
Cash and Carl Perkins, broke
a record Saturday, May 25 as
it became the longest-running
musical in Chicago history.
With 1,949 performances
over the course of its five years
in this city, the Tony Award-
winning roeck 'n' roll musical
has surpassed both "Wicked
"and "Pumpboys and Dinettes."

The Ned Welles Memorial Day Bar-B-Que (fun with a
purpose) had another great year, with Ben Ray and Lauren
Steadman of Ponchatoula High School walking away with
scholarships, and another $10,000 presented to Millsaps for
its scholarship program. Ned Welles attended both schools
and this annual event is time for his family and friends to
celebrate his life in a most positive manner.

publish a photographic edition, just to catch up on all the
great photos that have yet to make it to print, such as James

entire calendar pages, the current love of Hardy's life, more
