Adelle Drive Saints
awarded top garden honor
Mr and Mrs. James T. Saint. 129
Adelle Drive, received Garden of the
Month honors for June from Garden-
ette chairman, Mrs, Robert Rosson.
They received a gift certificate from
Tucker's Nursery and the traveling
display sign in a presentation by the
committe.
Although the garden club has con-
vened for the summer months, the
committee decided to award this dis-
tinction when the yards are the prettiest,
and withhold it during the winter
months when nothing s m bloom said

The Saint's recently moved to Adeile
Drive from Highway 51 in Ponchatoula
According to Rosson. they transformed
their new yard beyond recognition
Using plants from their old hornesite
they added amarylis, hibiscus.
marigolds, geraniums, salvia, azaleas
and bedding plants to the already land-
scaped yard

Monique Lipps
to wed Todd Th
Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Lipps. Jr. of
Ponchatoula announce the engagement
and forthcoming marriage of their
daugnter Monique Denette Lipps to
Todd Kendall Thornton, son of Mr. and
Mrs, Kendall K. Thornton of
Ponchatoula.
Miss Lipps is the granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Kinchen of
Ponchatoula, Mrs. Edith Mercier of
-Ponchatoula. and the late Mr. Casel
Jones. She is a graduate of
Porhatoula High School and now is a
Jr. Psychology student at Southeastern
Louisiana University. She is also

Newton, who had used Legion archives
to draw up a list of over 3,000 area
veterans to be encased in a memorial
flagpole being erected in front of the
Country Market by the Ponchatoula
Jaycees. It also helped Dale Brian
Kuebler earn the highest rank in
scouting, Eagle.
Norman Bacon, who serves scouting
on the distric{ level, provided further
information from Kuebler's Eagle Scout
file on his achievement.
The Eagle Scout himself is not
scheduled to return to Ponchatoula until
late July from his position on the staff of
Bacon said that Brian, as the scout's
friends call him, collected the names of
333 veterans from the Ponchatoula
area whose names might otherwise
have been lost to history. Most were
from the Spanish-American War and
the Civil War.

Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Graham,
Kentwood, Mrs, Nell Cosby. Denham

grandson of Mrs. Grace Varnado of
Bolivar.
The couple will marry on June 29 at
2 p.m, in French Corner Baptist Church

Adults working on the project, other
than Scoutmaster Francis M. Stone,
were Irene Zitzmann, Sheila Kuebler
and Deannie Kuebler. who assisted
Brian Kuebler and Mrs. Newton with
the computer work necessary to
produce the list.
