bits, ducks, chickens, turtles,
and fish. My love for agriculture
and animals will carry over to
high school where I plan to par-
ticipate in the Future Farmers
of America (FFA) program.
My strong faith in the Lord
and my Christian beliefs and
values come from my great-
grandfather Henry Kinchen Sr.,
a Mason, and my grandmother
Rosa Mac Kinchen Traylor, a
Sunday school teacher, who
were both charter members of
two of the local Baptist church-
es.
I have been raised in church
since birth and am very active
with the youth group at Trin-
ity Baptist Church in Pumpkin
Center where I am a member.
My parents have raised me to
be strong in my convictions and
bold in sharing them with my
family and friends. It is very
important to me to be a strong
witness for God. Several of the
ways I do this are to lead the
prayers at my sporting prac-
tices, games, and banquets, in-

TANGIPAHOA PARISH REPETITIVE

the project qualifies for assistance. If you have an interest in this

qualifying.
vite my friends to church, and
provide transportation for them
when needed.
Also, I have spent many hours
helping to clean and make im-
provements to help restore my
church's softball field which is
used as outreach for the com-
munity. I very much enjoyed be-
ing a member of the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes/Students
(FCA/FCS) during my years at
Martha Vinyard Elementary
School where I served as the
treasurer my sixth grade year.
We participated in many com-
munity service projects, such
as Operation Christmas Child.
I am enjoying my second year
of participation in the Face It
Club at Ponchatoula Junior
High School.
I can thank my great-grand-
father Bruce DeWolf, an artist,
sign painter, and singer and
grandmother Brenda DeW-
olf Jenkins, a cake decorator,
singer, and accordion player,
who sang all over Louisiana in
her younger years, including
on radio and television, for my
artistic talents which require a
creative imagination and much
patience.
I received an art scholarship
in second grade through the
State of Louisiana's Gifted and
Talented Art Program where I
will receive art training until I
graduate from high school. I am
very proud of the pieces I have
created so far, and many of them
decorate my home. I recently
designed the Beta Club T-shirt
and Beta Club banner for this
school year. My T-shirt design
was selected by Beta Club spon-
sors over the other students' de-
signs. The ideas for the T-shirt
and banner were based on the
Louisiana Beta Club theme for
this year, 'The Heart of Beta.'
I will soon compete on the dis-
trict level for best T-shirt and
banner designs.
Also, from the same grand-
parents and my dad, a quartet
singer, I have a love for music.
I also received a music scholar-
ship in second grade through
the State of Louisiana's Gifted
and Talented Music Program,
where I will receive vocal, key-
board, and guitar training until
I graduate from high school.
Like my family members, I
have also performed publicly.
I was a member of the Tucker
Elementary School Chorus in
first and second grades, the
D.C. Reeves Elementary School
Chorus in third grade, and the
Martha Vinyard Elementary
School Chorus in fifth and sixth
grades, where I received the
award for the Outstanding Cho-
ral Achievement in Vocal Per-
formance and Choral Spirit.
I also was a member of the
Trinity Baptist Church Chil-
dren's Choir from pre-school
through sixth grades. Being a
member of the Gifted and Tal-
ented Music Program and other
music groups, I have been able
to sing not only for fellow stu-
dents and at school recitals but
at the Ponchatoula Christmas
Lighting, Ponchatoula Country
Market, Rockefeller's Restau-
rant, and Tangipahoa Parish
School System Central Office.
I have sung solos at Trinity
Baptist Church, the Ponchatou-
la Strawberry Jam and Toast
to the Arts, Tangipahoa Parish
School System Central Office,
and sang the National Anthem
for several baseball opening
ceremonies at the Ponchatoula
Recreation Park.
I represented Ponchatoula
Junior High School by singing
the National Anthem at Ki-
wanis Park on Arbor Day for
the Ponchatoula Gardenettes
Garden Club and at a Tangipa-
hoa Parish School Board meet-
ing. I will soon be competing on
the district level at 'Beta Day'
in the talent competition with
a fellow Beta member. The duet
we performed at school was se-
lected over other performances
to advance to the next level of
competition.
Like my grandfather Erwin
Jenkins Jr., my dad, the 1981
Mr. Ponchatoula High School,
and my mom, voted a class fa-
vorite during her school years, I
have a very outgoing personal-
ity. One could say that I never
meet a stranger. I have a love for
people. I have a strong desire to
be a leader and always want to
make a difference in a positive
way and am very comfortable in

doing so. I always stand up for
what I believe is the right thing
to do and vow to never give in
to peer pressure by doing drugs,
alcohol, smoking, or using foul
language.
Like my grandfather Erwin
Jenkins Jr. who served as a Tan-
gipahoa Parish School Board
member, a Tangipahoa Parish
Police Jury member, and a Tan-
gipahoa Parish Council mem-
ber, and my mom who served
as a Tangipahoa Parish School
Board member, I have already
been elected and appointed to
many leadership positions.
I was elected as a Student
Advisory Board member in fifth
grade, class representative of
the Just Say No Club in fifth
grade, class president and Stu-
dent Council representative in
sixth grade, managing editor
of the Newspaper Club in sixth
grade, and president of the Na-
tional Honor Society in fifth and
sixth grades at Martha Vinyard
Elementary School. Also, I was
nominated in fifth grade to at-
tend the Junior National Young
Leaders Conference in Wash-
ington, D.C. as a Junior Na-
tional Scholar, and in seventh
grade, I was invited to travel
and study in Australia as part
of the People to People Interna-
tional Exchange Program.
Since my time at Ponchatoula
Junior High School, I have been
appointed as vice president, in
seventh grade, and president, in
eighth grade, of the Beta Club
and was elected as the Student
Council representative of my
class this year. I also participat-
ed in Art Club in fifth grade and
History Club in seventh grade.
During the time between my
fifth and eighth grade years, I
have been in charge of organiz-
ing many community service
projects, such as, St. Jude mon-
ey collection drives, canned food
drives for the needy, Operation
Christmas Child, and have
worked cleaning Ponchatoula
Junior High School on several
Saturdays, including this past
summer.
My family has always
stressed the importance of edu-
cation and to always put my
best effort in whatever I do.
They have never demanded
straight A's from me but have
insisted that I always pay at-
