The Tangipahoa Extension Home-
maker Council is sponsoring a Festival
of Fall Fashions Style Show and
Luncheon on August 29. 1985 at
11:30 a.m. at the Ponchatoula
Community Center.
The show will feature both handsewn
and ready-to-wear fashions for this Fall,
Members of all Parish Homemaker
Clubs will participate as models,
Since one of the goals of the La,
Extension Homemakers Council mem-
bers is to promote understanding and
appreciation of people of various
cultures in our country and also people
from other countries and cultures, and
since this year is "Year of the Youth."
the monies generated from this event
will go to help the children of El
Salvador and other countries.

Barbara Kay Butler feted
at Bob Jackson home
Dr. Bob Butler, Vice President of
Student Affairs at SLU and his wife
Kay, also of SLU, announce the engage-
ment and forthcoming marriage of their
daughter, Barbara Kay Butler to Frank
T, Vallot of New lberia, La. The announce-
ment was made official at a Hawaiian
luau at the home of Bob Jackson of
Ponchatoula. Friends and relatives
celebrated the occasion in apppopriate
attire in the midst of authentic decor, in
and around the Jackson's pool.
The wedding ceremony is scheduled
to take place on Saturday, August 17,
1985 at 6:30 p.m. at the First United
Methodist Church of Ponchatoula. The
couple, both students at Southeastern,
will-reside in a one hundred year cajun
cottage in Butlerville west of Ponchatoula.
Friends and family are invited.
S.N. Fitzmorris home named
Garden of the Month recipient
Gardenettes awarded Garden of the
Month honors to Mr. and Mrs S.N
Fitzmorris, 337 South First Street, for
the month of July.
Mrs. Robert Rosson, committee chair-
man, called the yard "simple but pretty"
as she placed the traveling plaque on
the FitzmOrris' lawn. The couple received
a gift certificate from Tucker's Nursery.
Although there were many yards that
qualified from the standpoint of planting.
many were disqualified due to lack of
grooming, said Rosson. Points were
deducted for unmown lawns and tall
weeds.
The Fitzmorrises have geraniums,
begonias, caladiums and dusty millers,
besides their azaleas and rose shrubs.
