on Monday, August 19, 2013 at
his home. He was born Novem-
ber 22, 1940 in Independence
and was 72 years of age.
He was a retired from Tan-
gipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office
and was a life-long produce

He is survived by his wife,

Colleen "G.G." Vunita Corkern, 87, of Ponchatoula, passed away
peacefully, Saturday, August 17, 2013, at her daughter's home,
surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Saturday,
February 13, 1926, in Honey
Grove, Texas, daughter of the
late Virgil Whaley and Mabel
Tracy Whaley.
She loved to travel and going
to the beach with her grand-
children. She loved to read and
loved Southern History. She
was involved in the community,
volunteering at the Collinswood
Museum, St. Joseph Catholic
School, and a member of the St.
Joseph Catholic Church Altar
Society. She also worked with
the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
of America. She was a Gold
Star Mother and her best time
in life was spending time with
her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.

Mr. Wayne "Mister" Richard Huguet Jr., 50 years old of Pon-
chatoula, Louisiana, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, at
Slidell Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Monday, July
22, 1963, in Hammond, Louisi-
ana.
Wayne was a free spirit who
loved fishing and being out-
doors.
Surviving are his father,
Wayne R. Huguet Sr., sis-
ter, Echo Huguet Hemphill,
aunt, Sheila Huguet Hebert,
and his uncle, Mark Huguet.
He is preceded in death by his

MONA MAE MEYERS
Mona Mac Meyers, 85, and a longtime resident of Ponchatoula,
Mona passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013.
Mona was a loving wife,
mother, sister and friend, who
touched the lives of many people
and will be missed dearly by all
who knew her. Mona was a long-
time member of French Corner
Baptist Church, where she en-
joyed teaching Sunday School
and Vacation Bible School.
Along with being devoted to her
family and church, Mona was
also a talented seamstress.
Mona leaves behind her hus-
band of 56 years, George Mey-
ers Sr.; sister, Opal Martinez;
brother, Elwin Wax and wife
Pat, as well as, numerous niec-
es and nephews.
Mona was preceded in death
by her son, George Meyers Jr.;
parents, Houston Harold Wax
and Myrtle Mitchell.
