Clear skies awaited the Gators in
sunny Watson. Louisiana Saturday,
September 7 where Ponchatoula lost to"
New Roads 6-0
That is, there were clear skies before
Ponchatouia arrived.
With the game buzzer came heavy
rain but the Gators felt right at home
since the team often practices in the rain
anyway.

On return. New Roads fought
pounding rain to pick up four yards on
return before they fumbled the ball.
New Roads recovered•
But that was all called back! An
unintentional run into the kicker
resulted in a five yard penalty for New
Roads.
Jay kicked again but this one went
100 yards high and 12 yards long. New
Roads fumbled again on return and this
time Chad Kuhn recovered.
PonchatouJa found themselves in a
fourth down and 17 yards to go
situation and were forced to punt
,_Jay Adams booted a 14 yarder that
was fumbled by New Roads. Adams
recovered his own punt
An iltega[ motion penalty, a sack on
,Jau Adams and an incomplete pass
awarded the ball to New Roacls.
As a result of a 58 yard drive, New
Roads sent in Kevin Laiche for the first
score on the board. Their extra point
attempt failed as New Road led 6-0.
A penalty agains[ New Roads for
lining in the neutral zone gave the
Gators excellent field position. The
standing referees next called a
preliminary signal penalty against New
Roads and that put Ponchatoula in
scoring range.
Jason Foster hammered down the
New Roads quarterback for his first sack
who was followed by Jay Adams who
also picked up his first sack against the
same quarterback.
Ponchatoula took possession but
failed to gain long yardage on aerial
attempts. The Gators lost 6-0.
