Bulldogs edge behind Jackson indouble overtime
By DUANE E. HARRIS
Sports Editor
Springfield's Bulldogs edged behind
the Jackson Chiefs in double overtime
defensive strategies Friday, Septerrber
6. The 'Dogs lost 26-20.
The homestanding 'Dogs fielded their
first double-A game and it was one the
players would rather forget.
"Don't say anything about that game!
We should have won it, we had the
chtmce, but..." remarked senior corner-
back Charles Ridgedell following Friday's
bone crushing loss to Jackson.
What started as a battle of offense
turned out to be a war between
defenses when the two teams tossed
possession of the ball around for a full
round of overtime. Both teams were
driven back to their own I0 yard line
after executing scoring drives.
"Don't say anything about
that game. We should have
won it... "'
But Jackson found a slight crack in
Springfield's defensive line and later
split it wide open. Spotted at
Springfield's one yard line, Jackson
went up and over for the winning score.
