September 21, 2013 - The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-11 will be hosting a recreational safe boating course at the First Baptist Church, 325 East Pine Street, Ponchatoula from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone born after January 1, 1984 must complete a boating education course and carry proof of completion in order to operate a boat over 10 horsepower or a personal watercraft. Plans to open local music school James Bass to perform at September 27-28 Guitar Show Times Report Master musician James Bass of Ponchatoula will perform at next weekend's 2nd Annual Guitar Show with Big A1 & the Heavyweights, Friday night's headliners, festival organizer Chris Roussel told The Times. Bass has several CD's on the market, and he is well-known by local students because he is a music teacher with the Tan- gipahoa Parish Schools. Among the other music pros performing Friday starting a 7 p.m. will be the Reed Alleman Band. Saturday's performers start playing at 2:30 p.m. fea- turing the popular Millville- based local band The Porch Rockers which plays all over South Louisiana, Chicken Farm Road Society, Berger Band, and The Avon Suspects. There is no admission charge. Roussel added that Bass will soon be opening a music school in the redecorated rooms atop his combination jewelry, an- tiques, furnishings and music shop, Roussel's & Company, lo- cated in America's Antique City in the first block of West Pine Street at number 177. Friday and Saturday, Sep- tember 27-28, Roussel will open his new concert venue behind his store, which will showcase a collection of vintage guitars, such as the '63 Gibson ES330.
