Folklife showcased October 3-19 The Hammond Cultural Foundation will sponsor A Folklife Showcase at the Levy Building - 217 East Thomas Street in historic downtown Hammond. October 3-19. 1985. Folklife represents the traditions of a culture - the way people work and play. worship and celebrate. The folk artifacts and craft items displayed will illustrate these traditions. Among the items shown will be old and new handmade quilts, iron tools, cypress and magnolia furniture, Indian and oak baskets. musical instruments. Hungarian embroideries, dance costumes, christening robes and a St. Joseph's Altar. An opening reception will be held October 3rd from 6-8 p.m. when the public is invited to view the exhibit.
