October 12 & 13 - Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival will be
held along the Tchefuncta Rive in downtown Madisonville. There
will be food, music, rides, games, arts, crafts, children's village and
more. For more information please visit http://www.woodenboat-
fest.org.
October 12 - Ponchatoula Country Market will celebrate their
40th Birthday opening ceremony at 10 a.m. refreshments will be
served on the back porch. There will be entertainment and pro-
grams throughout the day.
October 17- Chamber after Hours beginning at 5:30 p.m. will be
hosted by Brandon Thompson Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.
October 19- 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Party in the Pits 6th Annual IBCA-
sanctioned BBQ Cook-off at the Ponchatoula Memorial Park. BBQ
Masters from all over the South will be cooking chicken, ribs, and
brisket! There will be over $5000 in cash prizes at stake.
October 19 - Electric Train Depot's 5th Anniversary Party and
Sale-A-Thon, Free hot dogs, jambalaya, snacks and soft drinks will
be served 1111 SW. Railroad Ave.(985) 386-2236
October 20 - Dogtober Fun from 1-4 p.m. at 331 N. 7th St. to
support animal rescue. There will be a silent auction, Doggie Kiss-
ing Booth, raffles, food & drinks, face painting, a pooch parade, ca-
nine costume contest vendors and more! Attend between 2:30 and

Monday October 21, 5-8 p.m. - Tucker Elementary McDonalds
fundraiser Tucker Elementary will receive 20% of all proceeds
earned.
As with every year, Middendorf's will feature a German entree
as a special, lunch and dinner, on Wednesdays and Thursdays for
six weeks. October is a busy month for all who love pink and, like
the rest of the country, we hope to bring awareness to breast can-
cer with our wait sta'f wearing their pink Middendorf's aprons.
November 9 - Ponchatouia High School Band will host their 1st
Annual Mattress Sale Fundraiser in the Ponchatoula high school
cafeteria from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. There will be 25 different mattress
sets to choose from. Available in all sizes, including twin, full,
queen, king, California-king, and even special sizes.
Just like in a furniture showroom, customers can lay on and
try out every set. Styles include plush sets, pillow-top sets, latex,
memory foam, gel beds and much more. The mattresses are new
and name-brand with full factory warranties and will be priced
30-60% below retail prices.
Bed frames and mattress protectors will be for sale as well and
delivery will be available.
All forms of payment will be accepted and profits will go directly
to the Ponchatoula High School Band team. For more information
