October 31 - Ponchatoula Trick or Treat hours areas both
inside and outside the city limits of Ponchatoula will be 6 p.m.- 8
p.m.
October 31- Trunk or Treat hosted by the Ponchatoula Jay-
cees will take place at Ponchatoula Memorial Park. There will be
lots of cars, tons of treats, kid's costume contest, and free hotdogs
and hamburgers served by the Strawberry Festival.

November 9 - Ponchatoula High School Band will host their
1st Annual Mattress Sale Fund-raiser in the Ponchatoula high
school cafeteria from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
November 15- 9th Annual Starry November Night from 6
p.m. until 10 p.m. is hosted by the Hammond Downtown Develop-
ment District. The community event will feature many holiday fes-
tivities as well as an art stroll and wine tasting throughout down-
town businesses. Open to the public, Starry November Night will
take place on Friday, November 15, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

with major races scheduled for next year

"We had only an 18% voter turnout in Tangipahoa Parish, which is really
poor," Clerk of Court Julian Dufreche told The Times in post-election com-
ments, adding that next year will be far busier here.
Qualifying will be August
20-22, 2014 for numerous of-
rices. A primary election has
been scheduled for November 4,
2014, and a general election has
been set for December 6, 2014.

Voters will choose two U.S.
senators for six year terms and
U.S. Representatives for two
year terms beginning January
3, 2015.
With terms beginning Janu-
ary 1, 2015, voters will elect
State Court of Appeal Judges
for 10 year terms; Public Service
Commissioners, the District At-
torney, and 21st Judicial Dis-
trict Judges for six year terms;
Tangipahoa School Board Mem-
bers will be elected to four year
terms starting January 1, 2015;
the election for six year terms
will be held January 1, 2015
for Constables and Justices of
the Peace, Seventh Ward Court
Judge, Seventh Ward Marshal;
Hammond, Kentwood, and
Tickfaw will elect mayors to four
year terms beginning January
1, 2015. In Kentwood and Tick-
faw voters will elect to four year
terms of office mayors, chiefs of
police, and council members.
