" The American Legion Auxiliary Leander J. Kinchen Unit #47 of Ponchatoula ask our community to be aware of Halloween activities. Our local Halloween safety program is geared toward preventing senseless accidents. If children wear Halloween costumes, parents should see that these garments are flame resistant. If the costumes treated with flame-resistant material are washed or cleaned, they lose their fire- resistant properties. These should be treated after cleaning or discarded when dirty. Children have difficulty seeing when they wear Halloween masks because of the small slits for the eyes. Cosmetics or stage make-up can be used rather than a mask. Reflective tape should be applied to the arms and legs of the costumes, or costumes with reflective decorations should be used after dark. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary hope that everyone has a safe and fun Halloween. Happy Birthday October 31-Phil Wagner, Lauren, Larrieu, Laura Kraemer, Carol S.
