Holidays often bring visions of such
assorted goodies as cookies, cakes and
candies. With today's emphasis on food
and fitness, many people are interested
in holiday treats which are both nutritious
and delicious.
Satsumas, oranges or grapefruit
make delicious stocking stuffers which
,are loaded with vitamin C, says nutri-
tionist Dr. Bth Reames of the Louisiana
Cooperative Extension Service. Dry-
roasted, unsalted peanuts, in or out of
the shell, provide a tasty protein source
and a welcome addition to any holiday
one working, teaching,pr learning at
the school. Scholars rebresenting the

protein, niacin and zinc to the diet.
Of course, arrangements of fruit
make a beautiful, edible centerpiece•
When fresh fruit is around, you'll find
family and friends alike reaching for
these nutritious treats instead of sweets.
At parties, make plans to have a
vegetable tray with a low calorie dip
made with cottage cheese or yogurt
instead of mayonnaise or sour cream.

refreshing choice during the holiday
season or anytime. Delicious punches
can be made with a fruit juice base and
artificially sweetened ginger ale or
carbonated water to give a sparkling,
nutritious drink.

always a special treat during the
holidays. Reames offers this recipe for a
low-calorie strawberry yogurt mold'
which can be served as a salad or

1/4 cup sour cream
2 egg whites

water in a custard cup. Place cup in a pan
o! hot water to dissolve completely.
Puree strawberries and fruit punch
concentrate in blender. Stir yogurt, sour
