Gardenettes hold lighting contest
Gardenettes welcomed Margaret
Cambre, Sixth District Director for the
Louisiana Federation of Garden Clubs.
at their annual Christmas Tea. Decem-
bar II.
Held at the Red Rooster Cafe.
hostesses were Mines. Albert Lotz and
Matt Wagner. Lotz is co-owner of the
new restaurant, located in the Range
Village group.
Guest speaker for the event was
Reverend Burl Dampier, who spoke on
"The Spirit of Christmas." First vice-
president. Donna Corkern, made pre-
sentations to both the District Director
and the Guest Speaker.
Christmas Lighting arrangements
were finalized by chairmen, Mmes. Burl
Dampier and Bryan McMahon. Judging
was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
Friday, December 20.
Door prizes made by Corkern and
Girl Scout recipe
Girl Scout Shortbread Cookies
2 or 3 Bananas (thinly sliced)
3-ounce instant pudding & pie filling
2 cups milk
Use enough Shortbread Cookies to
cover the bottom of a 9'" pie plate. Put
pudding mix and milk in blender, blend
on low speed until smooth. Spread pan
Mrs. Marion Fannaly were distributed
among members and guests. Other
guests included Robin Austin, Audrey
Bodker. and Dianne Geer.
Members present but not previously

The meeting was opened by
president Fannaly: Wagner gave the
collect, and members cited Christmas
carols naming birds or flowers. Refresh-
ments catered by the Red Rooster
followed the gift exchange.
The January meeting will be held at
the Ponchatoula Community Center,
and will feature a workshop on dried
arrangements for the home. Guest
instructor will be Mrs. Linda Ryan of
Flowers by Linda
of the pudding over cookie layer, and
cover with banana slices. Layer the rest
of the pudding and banana slices. Top
with layer of cookies. Cover and chill for
2 or 3 hours.

4-H winners go to state

Two Springfield 4-H members were
awarded trips as state winners in 4-H.
Steve Strickland, Ist place winner in
State Wildlife and Fisheries Records,
attended the 64th annual National 4-H
Congress in Chicago. This trip was all
expense paid by Lisiana 4-H Founda-
tion. It included banquets and tours of
Chicago. Sixte-hurMr,H delegates
from all fifty states attended the Con-
vention that lasted a week.
Greg Southworth, club reporter
contest winner at Short Course,
attended a three-day trip that toured
New Orleans and business companies
there. There were seventeen club mem-
bers honored on the trip.
Both club members attend Springfield
High School and are active members
and officers of their 4-H.
